This unit we will be studying King Solomon, who was chosen to build the temple. This was no easy task, but King Solomon chose obedience and all of Israel was blessed to be able to have a permanent place to worship God. Here are some ways to continue the conversation at home:
1) How is the memory verse coming along? You only have two more chances to say the verse to your encourager. Here it is in case you forgot: "If you obey all my laws and commands I will do for you what I promised your father David." 1 Kings 6:12 Our family was able to learn this verse by singing it to the tune of "This is the Day".
2) King Solomon wrote the book of Proverbs. Take some time each day (during breakfast, after dinner, when putting the kids to bed...whatever works for you) and read one chapter of Proverbs as a family. i.e. if it's the 2nd day of the month, read chapter 2. (Warning: some chapters will be harder to explain to younger children than others, but spend some time in prayer before reading and ask God to give you wisdom to know how to explain His word to your children.)
