Noah:Chosen to Build the Ark, Week 5

Our theme for the year is Built to Obey. We'll be looking at lots of different people in the Bible who were given seemingly impossible tasks, but they chose obedience and God did amazing things through them!  We'll be learning this year that obedience is hardobedience is specificobedience is a choiceobedience is a witness, and obedience brings blessings.

During this unit we will be looking at Noah and his obedience when instructed to build the ark. Here are some fun ways you can keep up the conversation at home:

Review the memory verse for this month. Have you said that to your encourager, yet? (Just in case you can't remember it, here it is: Noah did everything just as God commanded him. Gen. 6:22) Let your kids make up motions to help them remember the verse. Can you make it into a song? There are lots of fun ways to memorize scripture!

Noah: Chosen to Build the Ark, Week 3

Our theme for the year is Built to Obey. We'll be looking at lots of different people in the Bible who were given seemingly impossible tasks, but they chose obedience and God did amazing things through them!  We'll be learning this year that obedience is hardobedience is specificobedience is a choiceobedience is a witness, and obedience brings blessings.

During this unit we will be looking at Noah and his obedience when instructed to build the ark. Here are some fun ways you can keep up the conversation at home:

1) Read the story straight from the Bible as a family. If your kids are old enough, let them read the story to you. Have each family member draw their version of what was read. Talk about each picture and what each person remembered. Hang these pictures somewhere in the house so you can see them and remember what you learned together.

2) As a family, make a list of ways that God has provided for your family, in good times and in bad. Pray and thank Him for His provision.

3) Act out what it might have been like to be part of Noah's family on the ark with all the animals. Enjoy laughing together over the stinky smells, the messes that needed to be cleaned up, all the noises and sounds, and the weird ways you would have had to prepare food. Now, think about being part of Noah's family, being saved from destruction, though the rest of your family was not allowed on the ark. Do you have any friends or family that do not know Jesus? Spend some time praying for these friends and family members. Ask God to give your family ways to share His truth with them that they may know Christ.
